100 Story Building

100 Story Building is a centre for young writers in Melbourne’s west. Their creative literacy programs support young writers from marginalised communities to expand their imagination, find a voice and become the hero of their own stories.

Here young storytellers express their creativity, inspired by the strange creatures and peculiar happenings on the many levels below their trapdoor. To support their young storytellers development, they’re putting all levels of their very deep building up for sale.

You can invest as much as $20,000 to take your place on the Majestic Panda-Dragon Level. Or as little as $10 to own a Bug from the Fat Bug's Birthday Level! You can also pick up a level for $5000, $2000, $1500, $1000, $500, $250, $100, $50, $25 and $10. Some Levels are exclusive, and some are shared so many generous Imagination Investors can join the party! Footscray Community Arts plays a vital role in the Australian and international cultural landscape generating open and inclusive contemporary creative spaces that nurture, develop and platform underrepresented artistic and community voices. Each year Footscray Community Arts employs over 500 artists and community workers, welcomes 80,000+ people to engage with our artistic program and provides over $150,000 in in-kind venue hire to artists and community groups.

As a registered Australian charity with DGR1 and TCC status, all donations above $2 are tax deductible. Donations can be made on a one-off, or regular basis.

Snuff Puppets

Since 1992, Snuff Puppets have been unleashing their giant puppet spectacles on millions of people worldwide. Unashamedly hand-made and experimental in a world fixated on perfection and mass-production, Snuff Puppets make visceral performance that breaks down the distance between audience and performer.

At the heart of their work are giant, dancing, grotesque puppets and the striking way they are brought to life. Snuff Puppets are truly dedicated to the art form of puppetry. Never just theatre, their work is a fusion of visual art, sculpture, design, pyrotechnics, engineering, sound composition, sound effects, movement, performance art, choreography and extreme sports.

The SUBSTATION

With the help of your donations, The SUBSTATION were able to commission four mid-career artists in 2018 to create ambitious works of scale. These included NONCOMPETE by Alisdair Macindoe, an exhibition of self-organising robotic instruments; DEFUNCTIONALISED AUTONOMOUS OBJECTS by Steven Rhall, an exhibition attracting over 12,000 visitors as part of Melbourne Festival; NEWER VOLCANICS by The Orbweavers had 2 sold-out live concerts and an album due to be launched later in 2019; and finally the exhibition SHIFTING SURROUNDS by Yandell Walton, on until 20 July 2019.

Their 2019 program is well under way. To date, they have sold-out four shows and welcomed over 8,000 audience members. Help them continue to support and make an impact to independent artists’ careers. Your donation will go directly to artists to present a dynamic program across art forms. Your gift will assist artists throughout the creative process, from research and development right through to presentation. All donations of $2 and over are tax-deductible.

Western Edge Youth Arts

Your donation will help to make an impact by:

  • Helping to bring high quality innovative contemporary theatre practice by young people for young people to the stage

  • Supporting our community cultural development work with marginalised and culturally diverse communities

  • Making a social investment in an arts company that values the empowerment of young people from diverse backgrounds.

Women*s Circus

Women’s Circus has transformed the lives of thousands of women since it opened it's doors in 1991. They work with women of all ages, experience levels, abilities and cultural backgrounds. They believe that ALL women should have access to creative and physical expression. And they also believe that through these opportunities women can become powerful and creative leaders who can support positive change for communities and individuals. Creating pathways for change and creativity is not a task they can do alone. Your donation will allow them to:

  • improve and make accessible our year-round circus training program

  • support women who experience financial hardship to access our programs

  • create new contemporary circus shows that allow the voices of women to be acknowledged and listened to

  • work with community groups to deliver circus workshops to the women in the services

  • support female artists to make new work and explore their practice

  • support and secure our future in the ever-changing arts and community sector
